Since the 2020/2021 season, Marlene Gaßner has been an ensemble member at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. There, she made her debut in the title role of the opera “CARMEN“. In the current season in Weimar, the mezzo-soprano takes on roles such as Mary in “DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER”, Tisbe in “LA CENERENTOLA”, and Eliza Doolittle in “MY FAIR LADY,” among others. In May 2024 she can also be seen as Floßhilde in Richard Wagners “DAS RHEINGOLD” at Theater Dortmund. Last season, she portrayed, among others, Caesonia in Detlev Glanert’s “CALIGULA” and Amelfa in “DER GOLDENE HAHN”. Guest engagements led her to perform as a page in “RIGOLETTO” at the NDR Klassik Open-Air, as a robber girl/flower/princess in Samuel Penderbayne’s “DIE SCHNEEKÖNIGIN” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and as a Dryad in a new production of “ARIADNE AUF NAXOS” at the Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar. At the end of 2022, the first recording of Richard Flury’s opera “DER SCHLIMM-HEILIGE VITALIS” was released, featuring Marlene Gaßner as Jucunda, conducted by Paul Mann with the Nürnberger Symphoniker.
