She made her stage debut in 2016 as Rebecca Nurse in THE CRUCIBLE at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. Following this, she joined the Junge Oper Hannover and later, until summer 2019, became an ensemble member at the Staatsoper Hannover. During her time there, she performed roles such as Soeur Mathilde in DIALOGUES DES CARMÉLITES, Flora and Annina in LA TRAVIATA, the Sandman in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, and Curra in LA FORZA DEL DESTINO.

Guest engagements have taken Marlene Gaßner to roles such as the Page in RIGOLETTO at the NDR Klassik Open-Air, the Robber Girl/Flower/Princess in Samuel Penderbayne’s THE SNOW QUEEN at the Deutsche Oper BerlinDryad in a new production of ARIADNE AUF NAXOS at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, and Floßhilde in Peter Konwitschny’s DAS RHEINGOLD at the Theater Dortmund.

At the end of 2022, the world premiere recording of Richard Flury’s opera DER SCHLIMM-HEILIGE VITALIS was released, featuring Marlene Gaßner as Jucunda under the baton of Paul Mann with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.

Mezzo-soprano Marlene Gaßner studied voice at the University of Music and Theatre Hanover. She was a scholarship recipient of Live Music Now and the Richard Wagner Association in Hanover.
